BOOKING

Budapest is a city of wonderful landmarks, as you will see for yourself during your Hop On Hop Off Budapest tour! If you ever search for the city, or maybe buy a guidebook, chances are the Buda Castle will feature prominently in both cases!

The castle district has several memorable sights, including the Fisherman’s Bastion, several museums, romantic little streets, not to mention the Matthias Church or the breathtaking panorama. Built on the southern tip of the Castle Hill, the Buda Castle served as the hall of the crown for centuries as its massive fortifications guarded the kingdom of Hungary.

Nowadays it is part of the Danube World Heritage Site, and anyone who takes a walk in the area will soon understand why. The Buda Castle, the Matthias Church and the whole view you get from here of Budapest is mesmerizing, especially at night, when all of the major sights of the city light up! Visit the Castle District, check out the National Gallery in the Buda Castle (open from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) adore the panorama from the Fisherman’s Bastion, be amazed by the rich architecture of the Matthias Church, and soak in the atmosphere of the Castle Bazaar!

The castle can be reached via both the pink and green routes, but bear in mind that you will need to hop off your Budapest guided bus tour at different stops. Stop 15 and 16 for the green route (Clark Adam Square and Castle District respectively), or Stop 12 for the pink route (Clark Adam Square again)!
