The 18th stop of the Hop On Hop Off tour is the Margaret bridge, before crossing it towards Pest. Although the bridge was built as the second permanent bridge in the capital 150 years ago, its connection to Margaret island was only added in the beginning of the 20th century.
Only a couple of minutes walking and you’ll find yourself at the biggest - and perhaps most beautiful - city park of Budapest. Don’t miss the chance to visit Margaret island and take your time to walk through this delightful park. The opportunities are limitless here, even if you are looking for a program with your family, friends or loved one.
There is a 5,3 km long running track encircling the park and the famous Hajós Alfréd National Pool Complex is located here too, so sport lovers are more than welcomed in the park. We also recommend you to visit the Japanese garden and the Zoo at the end of the island, and if you are lucky, you may catch the impressive fountain playing your favorite song.
Fun fact: at the foot of the bridge you’ll find a tiny limestone statue of a Trabant made by Mihály Kolodko. These little Kolodko-statues can be found in different spots throughout Budapest, if you have the time, it’s totally worth to search for all of them. Fortunately most of these statues are close to a Hop On Hop Off Budapest stop.
The nearest stop is on the Buda side of the Margaret Bridge (18th stop), check out its location on the map of the Hop On Hop Off buses.
