The first half of 2022 is quite exciting in terms of events and happenings in the Hungarian capital. Everyone can find the best programs and best things to do, you only need to look at this article. We listed all the sports, gastronomy and cultural events that are happening in Budapest in 2022.
Budapest welcomes its visitors from all around the world again this year. Here is the opportunity for everyone who has never been to Budapest, to visit the city either by walk, public transport or with our hop on hop off buses.

First stop: Budapest Spring Festival
In April 2022 is time for one of the greatest Hungarian annual cultural festivals with over 100 events. The Budapest Spring Festival focuses on contemporary forms of art and it is ready to welcome the big public audience again!
ASTA Global River Cruise Expo
Not an everyday event, but a very interesting one, organized by the American Society of Travel Advisors. They will host the inaugural river cruising expo designed specifically for travel advisors between March 16 and 20 in Budapest.
Bocuse d’Or European Final – Cooking at its finest
The Hungarian capital will once again host the European final of the most prestigious cooking competition in the world. This will be one of the first major international events of the renewed HUNGEXPO Budapest Congress and Exhibition Center, which has never hosted an event like this in its new form. The Bocuse d’Or will be organized in March, between the 22nd and 24th.
Giro d’Italia – Cycling through Budapest
Budapest is planned to be the starting host for the professional cycling race on May 6-7, 2022. A long planning process is followed by the race. The pink light has appeared in many Hungarian cities in the previous year, spotlighting the route of the race in Hungary.
Sziget Festival
The iconic music festival on the “Island of Freedom” is finally back for Summer 2022. Expect an over the top lineup of live music acts and art performances, a week long fun and exciting activities. The festival is happening in mid August, from the 10th until the 15th. Expect a hot, crazy summer in Budapest.
After the warm weather, long summer nights and world famous singers and bands the city is moving to the autumn.
Budapest Autumn Festival in October
The annual contemporary Budapest Autumn Festival is an experimental and innovative art festival that incorporates public spaces in the city. The event will be held in October 2022 and expects quite a big number of visitors.
